Beauty and Wonder - Day 36 - 2018

Just a little beyond the beaten path...

We went into Arches National Park early enough for sunrise.

(Bill)

A thunder storm was blowing in,
but we were able to photograph the Skyline Arch
before the clouds obscured the good light...

(Lisa)

(Bill)

We sat out a really heavy thunderstorm,
which flooded some of the park roads.

As it cleared...

(Lisa)

...we started a **WILD** hike up to
The Delicate Arch,
probably the most iconic arch in the park...

On the hike out we saw the historic Wolfe Homestead...

(Bill)

...and some petroglyphs presumed to be Ute...

(Lisa)

Later we drove up Scenic Highway 128
and photographed the red canyon walls
in the light of the setting sun...

Beauty and Wonder - Day 34 - 2018

Just a little beyond the beaten path...

We traveled to Moab,
and visited Arches National Park.
There are over 2,000 natural arches in the park.
We didn't manage to see them all :^D
The photographs reflect how moody the day was...

(Lisa)

The Landscape Arch is the longest arch in the park...

(Bill)

There are a lot of interesting landforms besides the arches...

Our lodging was as remote as any we've experienced on the trip,
but the surrounding area was stark and beautiful...

(Bill)

We had dinner at Duke's Slickrock Grill,
in Hanksville, Utah...

(Bill)

And returned to Capital Reef National Park
for an absolutely stunning sunset...
